Clergy visitors from Trichy-Tanjore South India

We were delighted to host a visiting group of clergy from the Diocese of Leicester link Diocese of Trichy-Tanjore in South India.

The visitors included:

  • Rev. Suresh Kumar, Clerical Secretary and link officer
  • Dr. Paul Dharmaraj, the Lay Secretary of the Diocese, the Principal of Bishop Heber College and Professor of Mathematics.
  • Rev. Gunajothi Manuel, Area Dean of Trichy.
  • Rev. Pandian Thangaraj Soundarapandian, Area Dean of Tanjore.

Whist in Leicester Forest East the group visited our two schools, Fossebrook Primary School and Stafford Leys Primary School and were challenged by some very thorough questions from the pupils.  Rev. Manuel, a classical singer, provided the children with a rendition of an Indian classical song that he performed in Tamil.

The group was also hosted by Revd Sue Steer, Pioneer Development Worker for the neighbouring community of Lubbesthorpe.

We all managed to relax over lunch before the group returned to St Martins House in Leicester for the launch of HOPE 18 by Roy Crowne and Dr Rachel Jordan-Wolf.
