We start our period of Lent with a service of Holy Communion with Ashing at 11:00am on Wednesday 1st March . All are invited to this simple service where participants are invite to receive the sign of the cross made on their forehead with the ashes of palm crosses soaked in oil with the words “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return. Turn away from sin and be faithful to Christ.”
Lent Course – “Build on the Rock”
Everyone is invited to come along to St Andrew’s as we participate in a Lenten Bible Study using material written by our Lay Reader, David Lucas. Six weekly sessions will follow topics of:
1st March – “God is a Rock”
8th March – “Christ is a Rock”
15th March – “The Rock of Love”
22nd March – “The Rock of Forgiveness”
29th March – “The Rock of Scripture”
5th April – “The Rock of Prayer”
Sessions will run from 2:00pm and last approximately 90 minutes and be lead by a member of the leadership team. Each session will be followed by a period of informal reflection over refreshments.
Our traditional Mothering Sunday service at 10:30am on Sunday 26th March will be jointly lead with the local Brownies and Guides. During a service where the children will use their various talents to celebrate mother and mothering, flowers will be distributed to all mother present.
